It was about a young clerk bored with his existence and the world around him and whose only joy came from a psychotic obsession with Princess Leia in Return of The Jedi (1983). Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has only been out for a few days and as expected is performing strongly at the box office, but the dust is already clearing and from a critical standpoint it seems to have attracted less favorable reviews than preceding entry Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), even if by all accounts it hews closer to the spirit of the original movies. Where does Disney take it from here?

Review: Rogue One (2016)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) is exactly what it says on the tin: a brand new story set in the Star Wars universe, numberless because it doesn’t expand on the Skywalker family history of hubris and redemption (if we’re to allot a connecting thread to all numbered movies) and very much its own movie, even if it’s set in such a way that it ends up tailgating the original Star Wars (1977).
